Katelyn Bridges To Star in Stephen Karam Adaptation of Cherry Orchard on Broadway?
After the likes of Diane Lane have been tapped into starring in Anton Chekov's The Cherry Orchard, there has been news of another addition. Primarily known as Daenerys Targaryen on HBO's "Game of Thrones".
The play is about Ranevskaya (Diane Lane) who is a spoiled aging aristocratic lady, who returns from a trip to Paris to face the loss of her magnificent Cherry Orchard estate after a default on the mortgage. In denial, she continues living in the past, deluding herself and her family, while the beautiful cherry trees are being axed down by the re-possessor Lopakhin (Teale), her former serf, who has his own agenda.
Bridges is set to play her youngest daughter Anya, Ranevksy's biological daughter, who is seventeen years old. She seems to have lived a sheltered life. She greatly enjoys the company of Trofimov and his lofty idealism, and is quick to comfort her mother after the loss of her orchard. Anya and Trofimov become close that Varya fears they may become romantically involved.
What will this mean for her character Daenerys Targaryen's fate on "Game of Thrones"? Her representative has stated that the rumor is still up the air and that anything can happen. Filming for her scenes on the show has previously taken place mid-summer up until right before winter in Spain, though it may be possible for her to work it in her busy schedule.
